wondered if you guys have looked anything into IF’ing (intermittant fasting) and its credibilities
people i know have thrived on it (anecdotal evidence is weak, but i’m just throwing that out there), and it seems to benefit the dieter in terms of partitioning. What do you think?

I haven’t looked it at a lot but I can say it works and there is some science behind it.

Any diet will work, the question is about long term adherence. Can people stick with thing for the 5-10 years. And that’s where almost every diet fail.

IF is more for people who are really physically active. The feeding is around your weight training workouts. I am not sure someone who just want to lose weight can apply this.

The major advantage of IF is you don’t have to eat 6-8 times like most bodybuilders eat. And making food and thinking about your meals is a major pain for most bodybuilders. I think there is some increase in insulin sensitivity with fasting which might be helping with calorie partitioning but I am not sure. The large part of the result is the calorie restriction as with any diet. And as we use to think fasting doesn’t seem to eat your muscles . There are some studies out there I think.

So far the most effective and practical “diet” I have found is carb cycling.

Well my goals are to gain muscle mass while minimizing (not trying to lose at this time) fat gain, so my variation represents that.
Mon and Thur are low carb days less than 100 gr and protein is around 300 and fat about 80-100gr per day.
On the other days I aim for 100gr Carbs per meal/50gr PRO/less than 10gr Fats and 5 meals a day.

Currently I am gaining strength nicely and sitting at 247-250 while still seeing some abs. If I think I am gaining too much fat I will probably cut some carbs on my high carb days, but so far so good.
