So, it’s been maybe a year since i’ve been lifting
Thanks to this site (Anoop, Jim, and Anatoly in particular)
i have managed to shed off some 40 pounds and gain a decent strength base

i’m thinking of getting into a focus on martial arts (more specifically, a striking art, like kung fu)
I’m not sure how to use my lifting regime to supplement my growth in martial arts
i was thinking of purchasing one “Training for Warriors” by Martin, but I would like a second opinion
muscular strength is certainly relevant in martial arts, what should my regime look like?

thanks y’all.

I think you must realize your strength training goals and act by them

Congratulations, Mumford!!! I am glad that we all could be a part of it.

From what little I now about martial arts, it’s all about power and functional movements. I think you need to sit down and analyze your sport a bit. Like what are the biomechanics, the energy sources: anaerobic or aerobic, strength needs, vertical or horizontal power, the flexibility needs, and test them to see what are your strengths and weaknesses and improve on them.

I think Ross enamait has some good stuff. I know Rob who writes here at times would know some stuff about martial arts.
