as most of you know, this is my main concern as of now
currently, being on the UD 2.0, it has worked great for a week (thought, that is too short a time to tell), no strength decreases yet
on a moderate diet the weights already started decreasing by the end of the first week
so i can say its working

it’s a time-taxing diet however, i sometimes don’t have time to go the the gym some 6 hours a week
not to mention, friends and the girlfriend think its way too much training/detract from personal life

the PSMF however, is much easier to do
dieting can be done passively and i have to workout maybe 2 - 2 and 1/2 hours a week

however, as anoop and anatoly have said before, the PSMF is not so good for muscle keeping
http://forums.lylemcdonald.com/showthread.php?t=4083&highlight=muscle+loss
lyle however, says that no muscle loss can happen?

if i were to follow it exactly like the book, in 7-14 day spurts with refeeds at the end as well as a 2g/lbm protein intake, could I get by with no muscle loss (and consequently, no significant performance loss)

the UD 2 works, and if i have to i will do it. it’s just awfully stressful to balance work, the personal life, and academia with this diet. I’d rather have another option. open to suggestions, guys. thanks in advance.

I was thinking about when you posted the log. Is it really necessary for you to go that extreme.

I would say pick a diet which is practical for you. Try the PSMF a or the intermittent fasting or just regular carb cycling.

And about category 1 not losing muscle mass, I don’t know. It’s a lot of anecdotal evidences. And even if you lose 1-2 lbs, I don’t think, you would know the difference.

And doing UD2 during finals is not a good plan anyways.

I agree, it is not.
Can you give me an example of where to find info on “regular carb cycling”?

I’ve had a really hard time cutting past this point without muscle loss. I guess what i’m worried about most is that between bulk/cuts, I will have made no improvement because I will be losing muscle and gaining fat, putting me at exactly the same weight/bf% as before.

Anyway, thanks for the help as usual, Anoop!

Hi Mumford,

check this article: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/par49.htm

And how do you know you are losing muscle? Are you losing strength in your diet?
