This is an article by Glenn Pendlay. He talks about only using concentric muscle actions so that you can train more frequently because there is no eccentric motion to hinder recovery. I think it seems to make a lot of sense and may explain why athletes can lift, condition, practice, and compete without overtraining. I have always thought about how athletes do so much and still so strong but bodybuilders are always worried about overtraining.

Would love to hear everyone’s opinion about this article.

From my past readings many years ago on concentric only training, especially when tested using isokinetic devices that were only designed for concentric actions, they found it did little to promote much in the way of hypertrophy. So if ones training goal is muscular hypertrophy, it might not be the best way to train.

Yes, that seems to be the opinion of most people and almost seems to be general knowledge. This interview with Glenn Pendlay again says that he is having a hard time keeping his athletes in their original weightclass though. Again he is promoting concentric only power movements with higher training frequency.

Here is the interview article.
