De-Loading

Had a couple of questions on de-loading
Is it best to switch the type of exercise ie free weight to machines?
Also is it best to do new exercises or the same ones during the loading phase?

Rob,

1. It may have some benefits as long as you keep the intensity/volume lighter. 
2. I think changing exercises every few cycle is a good idea both psychologically and physiologically. Just make sure you don’t change too much.
